May 21, 2013—Insulin Pump Orders
In Order Entry, providers can now write medication orders for a patient's self-administered aspart, glulisine, or regular Insulin, delivered subcutaneously via pump. Orders for insulin pumps are automatically defined as continuous infusions titrated to "Blood Sugar Goal" with the patient to use home supply. These orders will alert pharmacy, nursing, and other providers that patients are self-managing their Insulin. Insulin pump orders are reviewed by pharmacy, and acknowledged by nursing as a routine shift check in the eMAR.
