May 30, 2012—NPO Dosing for Insulin
Providers ordering insulin with a fixed dose for an adult patient have to option to include a dose to be administered when the patient is not eating. Both doses are part of a single order. At administration time, the nurse is prompted to select the patient's diet status (Eating or NPO); the correct dose is presented, then documented automatically along with the fingerstick glucose result and diet status.
Instructions: Order Medications > Set the dosing, frequency > Fixed dose, adult
