What's New for MGH Inpatient Order Entry?

July 11, 2012

Discharge Report—When Discharge Orders and Discharge Instructions are not signed off as final, or Patient Discharge Medication Lists (PDMLs) are not saved, the information is not saved to the patient's electronic medical health record (eMHR/Results). It is also possible that the patient did not receive required discharge paperwork.  Monthly or bimonthly reports of the discharge order status usually fail to detect the issue before the orders are locked, 36 hours after the patient has been discharged from the census via PATCOM.

The Discharge Paperwork Report is available to all clinical staff: physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Clinical Nurse Midwives, RNs, operations staff, and pharmacists. The on-demand report serves as a tool for improving the process of completing discharge paperwork, and increasing compliance for finalizing discharge orders and instructions in a timely manner.
