eMAR Flags for Time-Critical Medication Administration—Any medication ordered to be given more frequently than every 4 hours is now identified as time-critical. The window of acceptable administration is only one (1) hour for these medications, starting 30 minutes before the scheduled time and ending 30 minutes after. (Meds that are given less frequently have two (2) hours, from one (1) hour before to one (1) hour after.)
On the Unit Census Monitor, in the eMAR Cues indicates that one or more time-critical medications are due to be given;
indicates that one or more time-critical medications is overdue. On the eMAR To Do List, these medications are listed in the Due or Overdue sections as appropriate, and flagged with the respective icons.
