March 1, 2011—Ordering from Sets
Non-oncology order sets are now available in the ambulatory chemotherapy care units. These sets group orders that may be needed in a given clinical situation, such as urgent care, fever, neutropenia, or transfusion. The orders are completed, so you can simply check to order, just as you would for chemo orders from a regimen or protocol. Limited editing is allowed.
Order sets are built for specific locations, and are presented based on the ambulatory location you select when you start an order session.
These orders can not be included as a part of a chemotherapy regimen or protocol.
You can add other orders "a la carte" to sessions that include orders from a set. Any order type that is available for the location can be ordered, except for chemotherapy from a regimen or protocol.
Orders from a set must be signed before you can write chemotherapy orders. This eliminates the risk of these orders being duplicated weekly.
Orders from sets are listed in a pending ambulatory session for the day they are ordered. Like all other ambulatory orders, these must be activated.
