Routine start—Selecting the Routine option for starting medication orders with the frequencies above will determine the time of the first dose based on the time the order is written, the frequency, and the MGH pharmacy 50% rule for Standard Medication Administration Time (SMAT).
Specific date and time—The provider ordering the medication can select from a calendar and list of hours to indicate the exact date and time for the first dose. This option is available on the medication order form itself.
