If a patient from the ED arrives in observation or on an inpatient unit with no pre-admission orders, providers writing new inpatient orders are prompted to inactivate all orders previously written in the main ED. The prompt to inactivate also appears when nurses or operations staff open the RN review and transcribe orders list for new inpatients with active ED orders.
Click Inactivate ED Orders (ALT+I) to continue. Click Cancel (ALT+C) to write orders later.
If the ED orders include an update to the patient's allergy record, they must be resigned to prevent inactivation. Click OK (ALT+O) to acknowledge the message.
MD, NP, PA, or CNM: When prompted, type your clinical key, then click OK (ALT+O).
Nurses and operations staff: You are not authorized to resign. Notify an authorized clinician that there is an ED allergy record requiring resign.
