Mass General Brigham Server Team decommissioning process
Once the ServiceNow request to decommission a server is received, the
Server Team:
- Contacts the owner of the configuration item to make sure the request
is valid.
- Once the request is verified, opens a decommissioning workflow
and closes the original request, documenting the request numbers related
to the workflow.
- Shuts down the server for 10 Days before the first task in the
workflow is started. If no one requests for the server
to be turned back on, the server is turned back on to begin the first
few steps of the workflow.
