Considerations for research studies

Investigate whether the data provided by the requested service(s) can be extracted from the Mass General Brigham Research Patient Data Registry (RPDR). If so, the application must include the reason that a EDSP service is being requested rather than extracting from RPDR.

In addition, all research projects and requests to use data for research must be submitted to the Mass General Brigham Human Research Committee. The completed determination must be included in the EDSP request. Information needed includes:

• An electronic copy of the Human Research Committee's determination: approval letter, exemption, etc.(See Attaching electronic documents to a request)
• The IRB Protocol number and title
• The IRB expiration date

Research studies must also adhere to the considerations for Sensitive PHI (SPHI)
